I’ll admit, when I first heard the new “Quantum of Solace” theme song from Jack White and Alicia Keys… I was very skeptical. Bond themes are memorable and always set the tone for the upcoming film. I remember feeling the same way with “You Know My Name” from Chris Cornell for “Casino Royale”. After first hearing that song, it was very hard for me to wrap my head around how it would fit into a Bond film. But, to say it was ‘dead on perfect’ would be an understatement! The song fit the intro credits and animations to as if the movie was written around the theme song! So, I opened up my mind a bit, and remembered how brilliant Bond films are about making their theme song and credit sequences so exciting and perfect, almost a movie within a movie. I gave “Another Way to Die” another shot, several actually. And, I can now finally “see” how and why they chose this song. I can visualize the sequence in my head and I can hear the angst they’re trying to portray for Bond, since this is a movie about his revenge. I can also see this song sticking in people’s head just as Chris Cornell’s theme song did, because “Another Way to Die” is already stuck in mine! The song is definitely a different “sound” for a Bond theme, but I do actually think it’s going to work and be great! (after much hesitation and concern!) Give it a listen, several times even, visualize the credits and the revenge story in your head. It really does follow the plot of the upcoming film, and is very memorable! So, well done White and Keys! Tags: 007, Alicia Keys, Another Way to Die, Bond, Casino Royale, Daniel Craig, Jack White, James Bond, Quantum of Solace, The White Stripes
