what people are saying

Every time he opens his mouth I get more annoyed at the man:Former President Bill Clinton was hesitant to characterize Barack Obama as a "great man" Sunday, a phrase he had no qualms using last week to describe Obama's rival John McCain.Clinton told NBC's Tom Brokaw that it was only earlier this month in Harlem that he and Obama had their "first conversation." He said he had spoken with Obama before, but only in passing.Clinton then explained what he meant in characterizing McCain as a "great man.""I think his greatness is that he keeps trying to come back to service without ever asking people to cut him any slack or feel sorry for him or any of that stuff because he was a POW," Clinton said of the Republican presidential nominee. more about "The Raw Story | Colbert: 'How dare yo...", posted with vodpodHonestly, he seeks a lot of slack for his experience as a POW.  The whole RNC was just a big infomercial for his time as a POW, and if you skip to around the 2 minute mark of the Colbert Report, you will see just a few instances where he does in fact want you to cut him some slack because he was a POW.Which is fine, he earned some slack, but I would prefer not to hear Bill Clinton saying this stuff.  Cindy McCain says the same thing Bill Clinton did - that what's great about McCain is that he never talks about being a POW, but he does.  He does it a lot. What's next, Sarah Palin doesn't use her "lipstick" and "hockey mom" lines to get some slack for being an unqualified twit.

I dunno, Tony Bennett is in his category. And the TV academy likes a good crooner. So do I, of course, but c'mon, Stephen is out there every night with new material, and he's brilliant! Can't he get a little Emmy love? LINK
