Abortion is another one of those "hot button" issues that I rarely ever talk about. You have your opinion and I have mine and, even though we may shout at each other until we are blue in the face, we are not going to change each others minds. However, for the sake of disclosure, I do not like abortion. In fact, I am anti-abortion -- especially when it is used as a means of birth control. Having said that, I desire no part in coercing a woman one way or the other. But I am not writing this to discuss my position on abortion, but rather to voice my outrage on Barack Obama's record in the Illinois State Senate. I know that it has already been talked to death on talk radio and other blog sites. Indulge me.As an Illinois State Senator, Obama opposed the Illinois Born Alive Infants Protection Act. This legislation defined any infant born alive as a "person” who deserves full legal protection. I cannot fathom why any sane human being would be opposed to such legislation. Regardless of what we may feel about the practice of abortion in general, when a baby is born alive, it should be given full legal protection (even if that child was born as a result of an failed abortion attempt). By opposing such legislation, Obama is essentially showing his support for infanticide.I would like to direct your attention to Gianna Jessen. When Gianna's biological mother was seven and a half months pregnant, she sought an instillation abortion. As a result of this procedure intended to abort the fetus, Gianna Jessen was born alive and premature, with severe injury that resulted in physical atrophy and cerebral palsy. Her biological parents, who were both 17, put her up for adoption.Thankfully, Mr. Hope and Change wasn’t around back then to lay his liberal legislative death-dealing pen to Ms. Jessen’s fate -- and the world is a better place for it. Exit question: If Obama had his way, would she be alive to today? Or would she have been allowed to die in some soiled utility room? more about "Abortion", posted with vodpod
