I found the above video extraordinarily helpful in understanding exactly how we arrived at this current economic crisis. The video is almost ten minutes long and moves very fast. Be prepared to pause often to read the news clips and examine the many charts and graphs. The video does (unfortunately) detour very briefly into issues like immigration and education, and it has a clear political bias. Nevertheless, I think the main point stands: unregulated free markets did not cause this crisis; government regulation did.
