When I saw Maya Rudolph portray "Michelle Obama on SNL, I couldn't help laugh. Maya Rudolph has a lot of talent & spunk! But for some reason, I always think of her late mother, the great Minnie Riperton.

Minnie Riperton had such an angelic prescence & voice. It's unfortunate that she passed away at the tender age of 31. Even Mariah Carey pales in comparison when you hear those high octaves that Minnie Riperton was able to reach. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1976.
