Derek competed in the 16 & Up Advanced category at the AIL 2008 Championships. This category had 60 rollerbladers who had previously qualified at other AIL contests throughout the year, so the stakes were high. The top 10 turned pro, and were invited to compete in the AIL $5,000 Pro Contest on Sunday. Derek took 10th place, and the next day skated his way into the wild card round in the AIL Pro Contest.
But after his impressive 10th place finish and turning pro, you can be rest assured Derek’s signature camo pants and powerful street-style skating will be something to look for in upcoming contests and videos. Once known as ‘The Invisible Champion,’ Derek has emerged from his shadowy origins in Clovis, CA and planted himself firmly on the rollerblading map. With his unmistakeable tattoos, high reaching hops, his ability to absorb impact from massive gaps, and his surprising agility with switch ups, he will more than hold his ground. Look for Derek in the upcoming Intuition video…
Once again, congratulations to Derek Henderson for taking 10th Place and turning pro at the AIL 2008 World Championships.
