Gayle Quinnel, a John McCain supporter says at a McCain Rally that "Obama is an Arab". She is quickly corrected by John McCain who takes away her microphone. This is an interview with her done by a live streaming cell phone. Interviewers include Noah Kunin, Senior Political Correspondent from The UpTake, Adam Aigner of NBC News and Dana Bash of CNN. Quinnel cited that she obtained the information on Obama being an Arab at "her local library" and from a pamphlet obtained at a local McCain campaign office (provided by a fellow volunteer not the campaign itself). She has taken it upon herself to redistribute the information as widely as possible by making copies of the pamphlet and sending it to random names in the phone book.
I was shocked when I saw the few seconds of "the crazy McCain suppoter" on TV. You know the old woman with wild white hair. She went up to John McCain at a town hall meeting and he handed her the microphone and she started talking nutty and said that she was scared of Obama because he was an Arab. I think John McCain saw right away that she had Dementia or Alzheimer's disorder. He took the mike away and attempted to get away from her. Sure he did not say very well what he was trying to say but I think he was trying to do the right thing. He took some hits for his statement that Obama was not an Arab and was a decent man. I think we should give John McCain a pass on that statement. I saw that short few seconds on TV and found it interesting. I knew that John McCain was getting attacked because of his statement "...Obama is not an Arab he is a decent man.." I felt John McCain just was not ready to deal with a nutty old woman and did the best he could at the time. I just watched the "Saturday Night Live" and they had someone on acting like the "crazy white woman." I did a search for "crazy white woman" and found the following video. It is clear that the woman has dementia or Alzheimer's. I can understand the people wanting to ask her some questions at first. They were young and, I guess, they do not know anything about dementia. I am not going to blame them but they were being pretty insensitive and stupid. They should have asked; "Do you feel OK", "Are you here with someone", "Can we call someone for you" and "Do you have a way to get home?" It sounds like the woman is a McCain "volunteer" and that is something that, if true, is sad and sick. That his people would use a woman with dementia and let her say the things that she is saying is... well I am not sure what the word woud be...I guess SICK. It is sick of THEM to use such a woman. ...
One of the strangest images of an already bizarre week in politics was watching an elderly woman at a John McCain rally in Minnesota say she didn’t trust Barack Obama because “he’s an Arab.” I started to wonder, just who is this misinformed, rightwing idiot? Even for a McCainiac, this poor creature seemed even more off the hook than most.
Although McCain is pushing back on some of his rhetoric about Obama (you know terrorist, unAmeican, otherness), he can not push back the dial on hate. It's one of those abyss moments that can not be plugged once started. McCain unleashed those racist that had already been slowly simmering and patiently waiting for a reason to start yelling. There are just too many racist who at this point will not let go of blaming others for their own economic situation (yea, clinging to guns, booze, religion and BS). There's also, as my 73 years old mother puts it, way too many old people who are trapped in their own BS (BS is my word not my moms) of the past that they can not and will not let go of what is real versus facts. You can not expect a country that have a few million people hanging on to racism to open up to reality. I would not be amazed if the new focus from these pockets of voters to be that McCain is losing because Obama is black. Who cares about the fact that from the moment Obama was born he was going to be labeled as black? Who cares that Obama's middle name was not a choice but was given by his white mother and black father? There's hate to keep alive and who best then minorities, Jews, gays and immigrants to pour it on?This point of view is a cultural war that just will not be won in the long wrong. Why? People are tired of the whole principal of look at my skin, nationality, and sexual preference while our wallets are burning in hell. Mean time the 'country first' candidate, McCain, is spouting nothing but trivial BS that has done nothing but incite further hatred? Yea, racist, that's a real winner with the rest of us million on millions of people. more about ""Obama Is An Arab"-Says McCain Volunt...", posted with vodpod
