CNN last night used a hologram of various people beamed into the studio to look like they were with Wolf Blitzer and Anderson Cooper–it was downright freaky.

Hot on the heels of Bill Oddie’s barney with Bill Turnball on BBC Breakfast, here we have heavyweight news anchor David Dimbleby coming to blows with confused political commentator Gore Vidal during the Beeb’s US election coverage. Yep, it’s a longish clip but the whole “statement of reality” and “I don’t know who you are” is worth the wait. If I wanted to see the person doing the remote broadcast in the studio, I would save the travel money and just have them report from the studio.Hands down, biggest waste of money I have ever seen.They are now a news organization adding special effects to the news.Am I the only one out here that thinks this is disturbing? Do you need stuff like this to stay tuned? All I needed on MSNBC was my Rachel and Chuck Todd, though I enjoyed everyone else, too. No tricks, no gimmicks ... CNN might as well have set a pipe bomb off on their set for all the relevance it brought.And, what's next? Those bombs dropped in the Middle East aren't loud enough? Let's pump up the volume! Not enough planes over Kosovo?
