Best known for his work with The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Mitchell was quite simply one of the best drummers in all of rock history. The first time I ever heard Hendrix’s “Fire,” it was the incredible drumline that struck me first, not the guitar. It’s still one of the most exciting I’ve ever heard. Here’s the Experience playing that tune at the Royal Albert Music Hall in 1969.
