what people are saying

In her zeal to get elected Vice President, Sarah Palin reportedly went "rogue" and made allegations during the campaign that Barack Obama was bosom buddies with a domestic terrorist, thus overtly implying that if he pals around with terrorists, Obama must be one too, especially with a middle name like Hussein.  She supposedly never cleared that part of her speech with McCain before she made that public indictment on Obama's character.Well, why should she run it past McCain anyway (he was just running for the top job), as she said near the end of the campaign, she had nothing to lose.  So she went rogue and did whatever she wanted to do because it was not "Country First," it was Palin first.  Unlike McCain, maybe she never understood that she was playing with fire - fanning the flames of divisiveness and hate, us against them and "real"  Americans versus those who are purportedly un-American somehow (usually because we disagree).  But what if she knew exactly what she was doing.  I think she did and that is why I think she should never, ever hold any sort of public office at all.A week after the election, William Ayres spoke on the subject.  There was no  "palling" around with Barack Obama.  They were acquaintances as best.
