"From this initial video message to his preinauguration press conferences to more recent YouTube clips and weekly talks, Obama has transformed the function of the president-elect, just as he transfigured the presidential campaign into an Internet phenomenon. Streaming from the Office of the President-Elect, a nonplace or anyplace, Obama proclaims his virtual presidency. The easy acceptance by the public and the media of this novel authority—after some initial “Where’s the president?” “Nowhere”—attests to the way people live today, in online encounters and communities. They connect as if they were face-to-face.
Barack Obama keeps making history. He has now also affected the English language, specifically the word virtual. Through his prestidigitations, he has helped along a linguistic shift: Virtual is the new actual. And, in that sense, Obama is president, news maker, and commentator. He can explain himself, by himself. Since he knows what he’s thinking—and why—before the mediacs do, he scoops them effortlessly. In comparison with his skills, their responses seem increasingly thin, redundant, more obviously ill-informed, and excruciatingly superficial. Obama’s capacity to think and answer might force the “cult of personality” pundits to stop shouting and start reading. Actually, virtually."
Obama and his team are defending his pick for the United States Secretary of the Treasury, though it seems imprudent to appoint to one of the top financial posts in the country to a guy that makes big tax mistakes that require a massive payoff. Consumer confidence is the proportion of people who believe that the economy is going to be strong during the next few months. Recent polling has indicated that consumer confidence has dipped below 30%. Small wonder more people are looking into payday loans these days. The state of the economy is obviously the largest influence, as the number of layoffs increase, the stock market continues to decline, and the credit freeze has seen record numbers of people going out for payday loans for short term credit needs.
Mr. Obama u had made such a great history in the united sates of america and in the whole world. Maybe by winning the recent election the descriminations among black and other nations especially the Filipino who's woking hard in ur country can be freely accepted by the americans as part of ur people living permanently and non permanently in ur counrty. Good luck Mr. new president and more power!
This is just brilliant. As we wrote about yesterday, President-elect Obama will be giving weekly video addresses alongside the radio addresses that have become routine for previous administrations. The big key for these video addresses is that all of them will be placed on the largest Internet video portal in the world: YouTube. Today the first of those was released (watch it embedded below).
Obama is going to be the best president ever!!! He won the election fair and square even when people say he didnt. Its called working hard for what you want.
Mr. President-elect Obama;
I believe in you and I trust you . I think you are the best man in the world to accomplish world peace and global economics. May God bless you and your family. My family and I love you.
Yours truly,
Morteza Hadji (American-Iranian citizen)
Oh, if only Pres. Bush would retire early and allow Pres elect Obama begin the work that needs to be done. It's a long way to Jan. 20th when a healing time can begin for our nation. Too bad we have a lame duck in the white house until then. But we can pray for our new leader now and look forward to change.
