The reality is that those racist Republicans whom you and the Democratic Party is talking about ONLY switched parties in the mid 60’s, once the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was passed and the Democratic Party began courting the black vote. It does not negate the fact that those individuals along with the Democratic Party as a whole are the ones who fought keep black people from gaining the right to vote.

Kindly refer to excerpts from an entitled, WHITE WASH.

"if a single mention of states' rights 27 years ago is sufficient to damn the Republican Party for racism ever afterwards, what about the 200-year record of prominent Democrats who didn't bother with code words? They were openly and explicitly for slavery before the Civil War, supported lynching and "Jim Crow" laws after the war, and regularly defended segregation and white supremacy throughout most of the 20th century."

Furthermore, the only difference between a racist Republican and a racist Democrat is where they keep their lawn jockeys.

As a black Independent, I have one thing in common with some black conservatives, I do not go along just to get along. BUT!!! black conservatives, like this guy in the video, seem to perpetuate the stupid notion that other blacks, especially those left of center on the political spectrum, are ignorant of the Democratic party's racist past. Maybe some of us are. Yet that doesn't mean that after we pick up a history book and get all the facts we will make a mass exodus back to the GOP! I honestly try to give black conservatives a fair hearing, but they all appear to be echoing the sentiment of many of their white racist counterparts. Every black conservative that I have attempted to give a fair hearing never talks about the REAL reason the majority of blacks are no longer Republicans. Instead of admitting that the Republican party left the issues of Civil Rights and begin appealing to the fears of southern whites, they love to portray Democratic blacks as a race of dumb, deceived, misinformed dupes. I haven't heard any black conservative who has the audacity to confront their own party for the tactics of race baiting that both Lee Atwater (Bush Sr. campaign manager) and Kevin Philips (Nixon's campaign manager) have admitted.
None of them will even touch the politics of the late Jessie Helms who alienated many blacks. Instead they like to blame the liberal media and hint at some secret conspiracy to keep us poor negros blind, dependent and in the dark!
Think about this...David Duke is a Republican for one reason...He can always find a sympathetic ear among some conservative whites. (and maybe even a few blacks)
Now, black conservatives are "right on" about the Democratic party racist record.
Senator Byrd of West Virginia is a relic of that past. If David Duke was involved in politics 50 or 60 years ago, he would no doubt be a member of the democratic party! Most of the black historical persons we celebrate each February were Republicans and for good reasons! But things have changed. Barack Obama's preside

It is time the Republican Party step up to the plate and set history straight. However, in the meantime, it should be noted that in the 1860's during the Dredd Scott trial, the Democratic Party was split into two parts creating the Republican Party who supported Dredd Scott being a free man."Announced by the Supreme Court in March 1857, a few days after James Buchanan's inauguration, the Dred Scott Decision marked an attempt by southern and Democratic justices on the Court to provide a proslavery, prosouthern resolution to disputes over slavery expansion. Led by Chief Justice Roger B. Taney, the Court's majority, all of whom were Democrats and five of whom were Southerners, ruled as follows: 1) that Scott was still a slave and thus had no standing to sue in federal courts; 2) that even if he were free, Scott would still lack standing since free blacks were not citizens, indeed that blacks, in Taney's infamous phrase, "had no rights which the white man was bound to respect"; and 3) that the Missouri Compromise prohibition of slavery on which Scott rested his case was itself unconstitutional since it deprived slaveholders of their property without due process in violation of the Fifth Amendment. In short, the southern and Democratic majority of the Court ruled that the central platform plank of the Republican party — the demand for congressional prohibition of slavery from all federal territories — was unconstitutional.
