Yes I have looked into algae. The last issue of Infinite Energy there is discussion of it as well as some chemical engineering journals, however, there are still major conversion issues and efficiency problems in production that need to be addressed.

has anybody checked into the use of alge as an energy source-- it can produce 10000 gals of fuel per acre --compared to 1300gals/acre of corn
it can be genetically altered to produce gas or jet fuel. wave action can pump sea water to desalination plants then fresh water into the desert to feed alge farms.

Obama is the hope we need as a nation. Finally we are leaving the former Bush regime.
President-elect Barack Obama (pictured at the airport on Saturday catching a flight to Hawaii for winter break) warned on Friday that economic recovery won’t be as fast as he completed his Cabinet, after naming the secretaries of transportation, labor, trade and small business policy. “It will take longer than any of us would like — years, not months. It will get worse before it gets better. But it will get better if we are willing to act boldly and swiftly,” Obama said — and he promised to do just that.Obama declined to put a price tag on an economic stimulus plan he will propose, but signaled that it could be huge because of his priorities: creating jobs, getting the economy back on track and fixing financial markets among them. “That is going to cost a significant amount of money on the front end,” he said.WEEKLY ADDRESSOn Saturday, December 20, 2008, in his weekly address, President-elect Obama introduced the team of men and women who will head up the nation’s major scientific departments. What a phony, socialist con man.
It's a good day and a very sad one too that we are excited that we can now allow science to grow and assist us into the 21st century.  It's a shame that for the last 8 years science has been pretty much shackled to right wing nuttery of disbelief of its purpose or ultimate use.  I applaud our new president for unleashing what had helped our country be considered as an innovative country in the first place. more about "12/20/08 President-elect Obama's Week...", posted with vodpod

Watch the weekly address and read the text below.Remarks of the President-Elect Barack Obama Science Team Rollout Radio Address Friday, December 17, 2008 Chicago, Illinois Over the past few weeks, Vice President-Elect Biden and I have announced some of the leaders who will advise us as we seek to meet America’s twenty-first century challenges, from strengthening our security, to rebuilding our economy, to preserving our planet for our children and grandchildren. Today, I am pleased to announce members of my science and technology team whose work will be critical to these efforts. Whether it’s the science to slow global warming; the technology to protect our troops and confront bioterror and weapons of mass destruction; the research to find life-saving cures; or the innovations to remake our industries and create twenty-first century jobs—today, more than ever before, science holds the key to our survival as a planet and our security and prosperity as a nation. It is time we once again put science at the top of our agenda and worked to restore America’s place as the world leader in science and technology. Right now, in labs, classrooms and companies across America, our leading minds are hard at work chasing the next big idea, on the cusp of breakthroughs that could revolutionize our lives. But history tells us that they cannot do it alone. From landing on the moon, to sequencing the human genome, to inventing the Internet, America has been the first to cross that new frontier because we had leaders who paved the way: leaders like President Kennedy, who inspired us to push the boundaries of the known world and achieve the impossible; leaders who not only invested in our scientists, but who respected the integrity of the scientific process. Because the truth is that promoting science isn’t just about providing resources—it’s about protecting free and open inquiry. It’s about ensuring that facts and evidence are never t
