Listen: the folks who will buy an iPhone, break the contract, and soft unlock the thing probably won't be hanging out in the Rainbow Room come midnight. They'll be snug in their beds, tapping warily at their MacBook trackpads, counting down the seconds for the first true soft unlock of the iPhone 3G (sadly, I'll probably join them).
