I post the Hulu live feed in a salute to Hulu and Hulu Honcho Jason Kilar, who took a little idea (that I had as well) and turned it into a scripted programming powerhouse.Hulu was everywhere this year, it was on your computer at work when you missed Sunday's Family Guy, it helped you catch up on episodes of a lot of your prime time favorites and it helped make Dr. Horrible's Singalong Blog the sensation it was, though the Whedonmania was a big much for its servers.I post the pic above because one year I really wanna be in Sydney Harbour for the ringing in of the New Year. Happy New Year to you all. Tomorrow, just to give you something to look forward to in your drunken haze, The Ben Silverman Year in Review 2008.(I held it for last because he's special.)
Hulu will be streaming live coverage of New Year’s Eve festivities in New York City’s Times Square on Wednesday night starting at 10 p.m. ET. This means you can theoretically watch the famous ball drop from the cozy confines of your couch or bed and be thankful you’re not part of the huddled, freezing masses. But I’m sure you have more exciting plans than that, right? You can watch the stream here on the site, which fortunately no longer has teen queen Miley Cyrus’ 2009 New Year’s Eve special available for viewing (tragic, I know). This marks Hulu’s second live-streaming effort, after the final two U.S. Presidential debates in October.Viewers outside the US will probably be unable to watch Hulu’s coverage, but Earthcam is streaming New Year’s Eve as well, as well as MSN. Sites like Justin.tv and UStream, among others, are sure to have users live-stream New Year’s Eve from their respective locations, while Twitter users are sure to publicly overshare their experiences, with messages likely to get more garbled and incoherently typed as the night goes on.
