The only victim was his new Ferrari.LONDON (TICKER) —Manchester United wing Cristiano Ronaldowalked away uninjured after crashing his Ferrari sportscar on Monday.The front of the high-performance vehicle was completelydemolished after it hit a roadside barrier under a tunnelnear Manchester Airport.Police spoke to the Portuguese winger at the scene and hethen made his way to the clubs training ground nearSale.The crash happened on the A538 which takes traffic underthe airport runways between Wilmslow and Hale.The 23-year-olds red Ferrari struck a metal hand-railwhich guards an emergency exit door in the tunnel.Skid marks were clearly visible at the scene of the crashand one of the wheels came off.At about 10:20 a.m. police were called to the A538Wilmslow Road near to Manchester Airport followingreports of a road traffic collision, Greater ManchesterPolice said in a statement. Officers attended anddiscovered a Ferrari had collided with a barrier. No oneis believed to have been injured. Inquiries arecontinuing.Manchester United confirmed the Ballon dOr winner wasunhurt.He was involved in an incident this morning. No othercars were involved, a club spokesman said. Hes fineand is training as normal with the team.Ronaldo came on as a substitute in the final 30 minutesof his teams 1-0 Carling Cup defeat to Derby last night.His teammate, goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar, was reportedto have been traveling behind Ronaldo at the time of thecrash.The Ferrari was later loaded on to a recovery truck,covered in a black sheet, as the road was reopened.
