I had a very strange experience last night. I stayed up very late watching a terrific baseball game. (Yanks won in extra innings.) Before going to bed I checked FaceBook and saw that a friend had posted the video above. (Louis C.K. is the comedian.) I laughed so hard I almost cried.
This really hit home for some reason. I have been trying to turn the corner from depression to gratitude (a wise man once told me he couldn't be depressed and grateful at the same time), and it has been happening gradually. Little glimmers here and there.
During my time as a backpacker I learned that everything you truly need can be carried on your back, one day at a time. Everything was a luxury. I remember greedily devouring Jiffy Pop left by a boy scout in the Smoky Mountains and how amazing it seemed that artificial butter flavoring could exist fifty miles from paved roads.
And I remember as a child flying to Mexico City and how magical the smell of jet fuel seemed, and how fantastic it was to see the top of a cloud, and to land in a completely new place where it seemed everything was different, and anything was possible.
I am looking forward to riding chairs in the sky soon with Jude.
this sounds soooo good compared to the youtube version and there are no "non contributing zero's" commenting on the video!! Thank you for posting this!!!!
