what people are saying

Singer, songwriter, rapper and producer T-Pain came up with the Florida rap group Nappy Heads, but went solo in the early 2000’s with his recording of “I’m F***ed Up” a rework of Akon’s Top Ten hit “Locked Up.” After hearing the track, Akon signed Pain to his label, Konvict Muzic, where he would release his first album Rappa Turnt Sanga in 2005. The 2007 follow up, Epiphany, has perpetuated Pain’s meteoric rise by producing multiple hit singles. The album, in addition to several collaborations in ’07, gained Pain nominations for an MTV award, an American Music Award and five Grammy Awards. In this episode of Rehearsal Space, T-Pain discusses coming up in the industry the hard way, working with limited access to gear and hustling his music outside of clubs. He talks about breaking new ground in music while still appealing to current trends and the progression of his production techniques from analog to his current work in Logic Pro 8.
