The successor organization to President Obama's presidential campaign -- "Organizing for America" -- launched, with the Democratic National Committee, a grass roots campaign to pass the president's $3.6 trillion budget. Today the president sent out an email to the 13 million-strong email list compiled during Obama's presidential campaign to drum up support for the president's budget.David Plouffe's email to supporters:President Obama recorded a special message for you about the budget he's submitted to Congress and what you can do to help it pass.Watch the video now and take action to make sure your representatives know you support this new direction. The budget President Obama has proposed isn't the same old document Washington has come to expect year after year.Right now, we have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to finally confront the systemic problems that have held America back for far too long in energy, health care, and education. But it's up to you to get involved and make it happen. Join a canvass this weekend and talk with everyone you know about the President's plan to secure long-term prosperity for our families. After watching the President's video, you can also look up your elected representatives and let them know you support this new foundation for economic growth:http://my.barackobama.com/budgetactionThanks,David Plouffe

President Obama is a smart man. He’s using YouTube videos and a massive email list to push his agenda. I may not always agree with his economic policy, but I respect the hustle. Originally spotted at HuffPost. The video email blast has become a tried and true tool of the Obama political arsenal, one which Organize for America has deployed several times since its inception. The problem OFA and the president face is that there may simply not be enough oxygen in the room. The public was easily galvanized for an election, and seems moved and affected by highly populist issues like AIG’s bonuses or financial bailouts. Getting similar levels of involvement for a budget fight is a much more difficult battle - one that proved elusive during the stimulus debate - and it should provide an interesting insight into the extent of the emotional investment of Obama supporters. “I’m asking you to head outside this Saturday to knock on some doors, talk to some neighbors, and let people know how important this budget is to our future,” the president says. “And that is why I’m asking you to stay involved in the days ahead.”HipTics Related Posts:Kanye West Performs "Heartless" On American Idol A Daily Dose of Killa Cam CrackPresident Obama's Address To Congress About Economy - Full VideoThe Ohio Film Music Video Challenge: Will This Hip-Hop Video Win?Check Out These Drake Videos
