This talk was informative on the rainforest treetop ecosystems, but it was most eye opening to me for her "marketing" ideas to raise awareness about the topic to the mainstream and fringe people. These ranged from customizing a creation of Treetop Barbie, to creating canopy raps and dances, to getting prisoners to grow moss and breed endangered frogs in the Washington area. The ENGOs should get a load of this lady and learn from her instead of some of their grassroots ways which are now getting old and a bit tiresome! Brilliant marketing as well as scientific research!
A unique ecosystem of plants, birds and monkeys thrives in the treetops of the rainforest. Nalini Nadkarni explores these canopy worlds -- and shares her findings with the world below, through dance, art and bold partnerships.
Called "the queen of canopy research," Nalini Nadkarni explores the rich, vital world found in the tops of trees. She communicates what she finds to non-scientists -- with the help of poets, preachers and prisoners.
