March is hands down my favorite month if not for one reason only, March Madness and the NCAA tournament. It is always exciting seeing which small team makes a name for themselves, the powerhouse match ups and amazing buzzer beaters that keeps dreams alive. One down side to the month as well is the couching carousel. My VCU Rams lost their leader for the past three years when Anthony Grant left Richmond for the humidity of Tuscaloosa to try to restore order for the Crimson Tide of Alabama. All VCU fans knew the day was coming, it still hurts.
May have not hurt as much as what the Kentucky Wildcat fans have been going through. Kentucky Athletic Director, Mitch Barnhart, did a recklessly quick job of hiring Gillispie from Texas A&M two years ago in an attempt to get Kentucky back on track. Gillispie went 40-27 in his time in Lexington. I feel like all the tensions and pressure that was built up in his two seasons as head coach came to a symbolic boil when local Lexington report Alan Cutler chased the former coach down the hall at UK for comment. See video below for an incredibly awkward moment.
