Philip Zelikow, an advisor to former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, opposed the legal reasoning aimed at legitimizing torture, and he drew up some memos of his own.

Zelikow says that copies of his memos were destroyed by the White House though there are likely some floating around the State Department.
