A master of spirituality who has much to be discovered is how Benedict XVI characterized Ambrose Autpert, to whom he dedicated the General Audience catechesis on April 22nd.Ambrose Autpert was a member of the court of the Pepin the Short, King of the Franks, where he was tutor to the future emperor Charlemagne.After a visit to the Benedictine Monastery of St. Vincent in the duchy of Benevento, he embraced the monastic life. He was promptly elected abbot, but resigned due to disagreements within the monastery.
