Reverend Julius Cheeks was born in Spartanburg, SC. He was a very unique and powerful singer. Reverend Cheeks was a member of a local gospel group called The Baronets. In 1946 he joined The Nightingales (now known as the Sensational Nightingales). He was, for a very brief time, a member of The Soul Stirrers. He rejoined the Nightingales during the early 1950s.
