This video, Kesmit-ing: The Twitter Experiment - Bringing Twitter to the Classroom at UT Dallas, is a great example of working more dynamically with large classes in a higher education setting. The teacher worked out a way to involve more than a few of the brave extroverts who would speak up in such a large class.
This technique involved many, many more and forced students in the 140 words to get to the core of their idea. It was somewhat messy but changed the whole learning dynamic. The Twitter contributions were projected up on a screen for all the class to see and comment on.
It's a very good start of applying the Twitter into the classroom, particularly launching at the university level. Wonder when it can spread to the secondary classroom.
I found this really amazing video on how Twitter can be used as an educational tool.
I was recently introduced to twitter by a friend. I would like to admit upfront that, till I saw this video, I was sceptical on what could be achieved with Twitter. After I viewed this video experiment, the only reaction that I could think of was “Oh my gosh” as the possibilities of using Twitter as an educational tool is endless.
Thank you Dr. Monica Rankin for conducting this experiment and for posting it online for all of us to see.
