Barcelona may be set to surpass the record goal haul this season, needing five in their remaining three games, but, much as I loath to ever praise the buggers in white, that shouldn’t diminish the achievement of big John Toshack’s 1989-90 Real Madrid team. In La Liga only on three occasions has a team broke the 100-goal barrier: Barcelona this season, of course, but the other two instances were, amazingly, under British management.
