Thank you for this interview...you may not have been an Adam fan from the onset, but I will say that YOU, Slezak can give yourself a "pat on the back". I've seen and heard every interview that Adam has done and I can honestly say that this is the BEST. You've outdone yourself here. The interview was open, tasteful, honest, intelligent and very interesting.....and, yes, variety is the spice of life!

ADAM TALKING ABOUT SONG CHOICES: For me, picking a song, it had to mean something to me, in some way. When I chose Black or White I knew that it had the original intent, which is very appropriate with our country right now, you know, with our President and what not. And then the other civil rights issues I thought, you know, people would figure that out if they were savvy enough. And they did, which was cool. It always has to mean something. Change is Gonna Come [Simon Fuller’s song choice for the Finale] turned out to be a really cool moment. I think that it had a lot of social relevance considering all of the press that I’d been getting and everything, I thought it was really cool... And I got to wear a really cool tie.

[Talking about the Billy segment]: A - I got a little nervous when it started and I was like, “Great, that’s great.” But then the two female correspondents on the show were really supportive so, whatever. Really, you’re put in this situation and everything’s happening and the only option that you have is to take it really seriously & get like screwed up by it, or shrug your shoulders and kind of laugh and be like, “Whatever!” I try to have a sense of humor about things; it’s just easier to deal with things that way.

Q - Did you see the Billy O’Reilly segment about you?
A – I did. I did.
[Billy voiceover: “On the internet there are embarrassing pictures of Mr. Lambert”]
A – They censored it! It was censored.
Q – It was [laughs].
A – I was like, is that indecent?
Q – On the Internet they called them embarrassing pictures. I was like, what? Embarrassing to who?
A - I wasn’t embarrassed. I guess he was.
Q – Embarrassing to Billy O’Reilly.
A – Yeah, Bill was embarrassed.

A - To me it’s always just been about singing. When all that social projection started being attached to me I was like, is it that deep? I thought we were just singing, I thought this was just a singing competition. But people attached it onto my situation, and in a way I felt honored, I also felt a little intimidated. I thought that was a lot of responsibility for me and I was like I just want to sing, I don’t want to like represent a cause or a movement. But if that’s how people want to look at it I guess I can’t really ignore that fact, so I’m just trying to run with it & not take it too seriously.
Q- Sometimes you just want to sing A Whole Lotta Love.
A – Yeah, man! And do my eye makeup and wear my rhinestones and wear leather & feathers and things, you know?
