How do you make a difference? What can you do to make a difference? I used to wonder at this. I'm still wondering...
I try to look at the past and see who were the people who made a difference in my life. There had definitely been people who has made an impact in my life and are still a great influence. One of those people is the undershepherd of our church. I quite admire a lot about him. He's taught me a lot preaching and teaching from the pulpit every week. I would say, I wouldn't think like I do (well, not all the time) now if not for the things he's taught us from the Bible. He's very principled. I don't mean to say that he's perfect but he is such a good example because he's someone who practices what he preaches. And that is a lot of difference from most of the so called leaders that we have today.
I've never realized it before but now I do. I am also in a place of influence. As I am writing this I realize that one of the ways to make a difference is to live our lives as good examples. Yes, I am preschool-children-seriesnot perfect and will never be until I meet the Father who is perfect but I can live my life matching what I say and do. One of the things I used to hear from Pastor was that people will not listen to what we say until they know that we care...
My experiences as a teacher has also taught me a lot. There have been students that were really a pain but I've learned that some of them just need a person who will understand. Someone who will not judge them just by what they see outside but would care enough to know what's inside... When we reach that depth, only then can we make a difference.
