2. Robert Shaw, JAWS We make a big deal today of Russell Crowe being surly, but Shaw was one mean S.O.B. Just ask Richard Dreyfuss. His take (probably not as historically accurate as Quint would lead us to believe) on the doomed U.S.S. Indianapolis is one of the most chilling scenes I've seen. And it's all in the delivery. Key moment: "You know the thing about a shark, he's got lifeless eyes. Black eyes like a doll's eyes. When he comes at ya, he doesn't seem to be living until he bites ya and those black eyes roll over and white and then, ah, then you hear that terrible high-pitch screaming.
