Anyway in the UK it is not up to us to decide if we should have it .

We can refuse it of course but whether it is available to us is up to the National Health service based on the risk to you if you have the vaccine weighed up with the risk if contract H1N1
So in the UK if you are under 65, reasonably healthy ( not in a high risk group for getting HINI complications) and not a health worker who could give it to vulnerable people in hospital etc or pregnant you do not have the option to have the vax, as we have a national health system and such vaccinations are free to all but only offered to those they feel would derive any benefit from it.i.e the risk to you is you suffer H1n1 is statistically more than having the vaccination

And I trust our NHS ( well not at all on everything as I am not a lemming and have a good mind but on matters like this anyway as they derive no financial gain from giving us it and the less they give it the cheaper it is for the NHS and our NHS would suffer very much financially and other ways if the vax made people ill and people took them to court) so as I am in a risk group I will follow their advice on this one - and it is the same one as is available to you all in the US

I really do not understand the scare that is going out in the US about the NEW! H1N1 vaccine!! I live in the Uk and am 56 so remember well swine flu in 76, as I got it and came close to death, It is not history for me but a bad experience. But I did not have the benefit of a vaccine and I accept it sadly had this effect on some people at that time, who had THAT vaccine.
However I will point out that was 1976 and this is 2009 and this is NOT the same vaccine! Medical science has improved immensely since the 70s so has their methods and rigor in testing any medicines and vaccines. Also those that develop such vaccines and the heath services that give it are not ignorant to what happened to some with that vaccine in the US and no one wants a repeat of that! So why is it assumed that those who develop such vaccines are more ignorant than the general public and have not taken this into consideration when developing this new H1N1 vaccine?
I can sort of understand the logic that if you are in a part of the world where you have to pay for your medicines,vaccines and medical care like in the US that you fear they just want to push the vaccine to you to make money and ignore any dangers.

But I do not live in the US i live in the UK where we have a Free National Health system and it is not going to benefit anyone if they give out a vaccine that is dangerous in any way or give it out to those who do not need it. As the more they vaccinate the more it costs them and if there were any problems with it people will sue the NHS and that will cost them money not us as we have legal aid to take the NHS to court - as there is no conspiracy of silence here at the same level as in the US with our health service because we own it and if anythign goes wrong their are ways to address it - and we are getting the same vaccine as you!
