Mime theater director (Marcel Peres) responds to Lemaitre (Pierre Brasseur) declaration that he wants to be an actor. Marcel Carne's 1945 masterpiece of French cinema overflows with expertly choreographed mayhem. Considered by many to be one of the greatest French films ever made. Incredible in that it was filmed under Nazi occupation. A tragic love story woven around the lives of the denizens of 1820's Paris and its Boulevard of Crimes, a famed and notorious theater district.
