I'll be baptizing my 12 y/o daughter Hannah in the coming weeks. A Pastor in a fellow SBC church graciously offered the use of their facilities. I also have been studying the issue of who the proper subjects of baptism are. The Presbyterians, of course, believe in baptizing believers' children as a sign of the covenant, and Baptists (of which of course I am both Reformed and Baptist) believe in believers' baptism. I've listened to several MP3 debates featuring some of the best: Sproul v MacArthur, Shishko v White, Strawbridge v White, Strimple v Malone, and am now listening to Bill Shishko's ( a Presbyterian) 23-part MP3 series he held at his church on baptism. It is good to see the Berean spirit and respect each debate participant gave to the other. This is a very difficult issue and must be approached carefully in the spirit of Sola Scriptura. As I believe that credo-baptism (believers' baptist) is the most Scriptural, we must also realize that great minds of the faith have believed in infant baptism. Ultimately, a clear and convincing exegesis must inform us as to whom the proper subjects of baptism should be.
