I have been informed that the boat Spirit of Humanity, on a human rights mission from Cyprus to Gaza via international waters, is being surrounded by Israeli gunboats and threatened to be shot at. I am sure that a ship carrying human rights activists, humanitarian workers and journalists (including Nobel Peace Price Mairead Maguire), as well as medical and reconstruction aid material, cannot possibly pose a threat to the State of Israel nor its security.

I am therefore writing to you to ask you to let the Spirit of Humanity continue its way, to stop preventing human rights and humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people, and to immediately stop attacking the civilian population in Gaza.
