Recently my heart has become very tender as I ponder the bitter-sweet truths of being a parent. Our babies grow up. On one hand, it is a thrill to see our baby take his first step, potty train, say her first word, and then exponentially gain knowledge and skills, talent and personality...oh what joy it is to watch the miracle of our creation in partnership with God. However, on the other hand, there is a deep sadness as milestones are met and passed, never to return. The beloved pacifier and blankie are left behind for toys and friends, car keys and prom dresses. Tiny fingerprints disappear, and the shiney clean mirrors and windows seem much less important. Before we can even turn around, our babies are grown and heading off on their own. This is the circle of life. The plan and design of a loving Father in Heaven. This process has become very personal for me, as in a few short weeks I will be taking my own little child in the car to a college in another city. I will be kissing her goodbye, and driving away. Every moment I spend with her between this day, and that one is beyond price. This music video by Beachboyscom beautifully illustrates the feelings in my heart.
