In the early to mid 1980's, Phil Keegan would practice 'dorian' guitar scales in his room in Redondo Beach, often emulating the styles from Ritchie Blackmore to Jimmy Page to Jimmy Hendrix. It wasn't long before Keegan found himself as a member of one of rock's greatest bands. Along with bassist Rick Carmody and drummer/lead vocalist Clark Higgins, the Greenhouse Effect was formed! Just a three piece, the band almost immediately strutted out onto the South Bay live concert music scene where Keegan would lead the way upfront, blasting through solos on his red Gibson les Paul to stunned crowds. Heavily fuzzy distorted sonic wrythms by Keegan would pave the way for a generation of alternative 'grunge rockers' to come later,...much later as 'G.e.' toyed amidst the 1980's 'heavy metal' scene of glam rock, but playing a style nothing like glam. "Six Feet Under" would be the definitive Keegan political rant stance against a corporate music industry selling cheesey metal and Debbie Gibson.
