The rapid response to the townhall screamers and right-wing performance artists on the part of Dems has been pretty effective, despite the fact that some media outlets (ahem, CBS?) are a little slow to catch on to the astroturf nature of the protests. But the message has gotten out, and with this new Web ad from the DNC will help.

They lost the election. They lost on the Recovery Act, the budget and children's health care. They've lost the confidence of the American people after eight years of failed policies that ruined our economy and cost millions of jobs.

Now, desperate Republicans and their well-funded allies are organizing angry mobs - just like they did during the election. Their goal? Destroy President Obama and stop the change Americans voted for overwhelmingly in November.

This mob activity is straight from the play book of high level Republican political operatives. They have no plan for moving our country forward, so they've called out the mob.

Call the Republican party. Tell them you've had enough of the mob.

The RNC response is priceless, and, not so surprisingly, incredibly inept as NPR found when they called that RNC phone number.

We gave it a try just to see what the RNC had to say and got an automated phone directory. Conveniently enough, the recorded voice prompted us to press 1, if we were calling about the recent DNC ad. Okee dokee. We did, and a few seconds later found ourselves talking with a receptionist at the DNC, who said she's been getting a lot of calls like ours today.

Update: The DNC's Brad Woodhouse said in an email that the call-forwarding option is "a neat trick." But it also shows, he wrote, that "Republicans don't want to have a discussion about the future of health care reform."

The RNC said they'd have something to tell us about this later today.

Do we need more proof that the Republicans aren't interested in talking health care?

AmericaBlog is reporting the following: “The Republican National Committee doesn't want to hear from people who are upset over its thuggish tactics at Town Hall meetings. The DNC launched an ad, Enough of the Mob, which asked people to call...
The DNC has released this ad biting back at birthers and health-care reform protesters alike. But are they really that much alike?
The democrats are starting to call out these mobs of fringe lunatics and the republicans that do nothing.   This new ad goes after the fringe of the republican party that wants to disrupt town hall meetings with their conspiracy theories.  The people that are going to protesting congressmen in districts they don’t even live in [...]
The DNC isn't taking the Health Insurance Industry's paid mob efforts lying down. From the DNC: ar addthis_pub="thejoshuablog";
DNC Web Ad Blasts Republican "Angry Mobs" The Democratic National Committee is expanding its public relations push against the Tea Party crowds that are interrupting town hall meetings, with this new Web ad tying the right-wing base to the GOP...
Sam Stein reported yesterday that Obama is still talking about the need for a bipartisan health insurance reform bill during his lunch with Senators.: also insisted, according to an administration aide, that he remained committed to working with the Republican Party to get reform passed.Okay. If Obama is still committed to working with Republicans, he really needs to see this ad produced by the DNC. Because this is the GOP. The people in these mobs are the GOP base. They will not let the GOP leadership accept any of Obama's core principles for reform: Bipartisan with this mob? Not going to happen. Stop worrying about the process and focus on the result.
"They lost the election. They lost on the Recovery Act, the budget and children's health care," the script reads. "They've lost the confidence of the American people after eight years of failed policies that ruined our economy and cost millions of jobs." "Now, desperate Republicans and their well-funded allies are organizing angry mobs - just like they did during the election. Their goal? Destroy President Obama and stop the change Americans voted for overwhelmingly in November."Watch It:
