足跡遍佈非洲、中南美洲、北極等地的吳炫三，1942年出生於宜蘭羅東，以原始藝術的抽象表現為其個人風格，曾獲得台灣十大傑出青年、吳三連文藝獎、中山文藝獎、國家文藝獎，以及法國藝術文化騎士勳章等殊榮。吳炫三的創作中一貫以人物為主題，因為他認為人擁有最豐富的表情和感情，他的作品色彩非常鮮豔、筆觸直接強烈，在30年前即被公認是「新野獸派」風格的畫家。
