Keckley, Ph.D., is a healthcare economist and policy expert whose 30 year career includes leadership roles in the private sector and in academic medicine. He is Executive Director of the Vanderbilt Center for Evidence-based Medicine and teaches in the Schools of Medicine and Business. He is an expert on applications of evidence-based medicine to health system transformation, pay for performance programs, and quality improvement. The Vanderbilt Center for Evidence-based Medicine supports efforts across Vanderbilt University Medical Centers quality improvement processes including guideline and pathway development, journal clubs for VUMC clinical departments, and evaluation of quality and safety measures incorporated into clinical operations. The center conducts funded research and workshops for outside organizations and is the principal investigator for the Agency of Healthcare Research and Quality analysis of consumer understanding of evidence-based medicine currently underway. His administrative duties in Vanderbilt University Medical Center include development of clinical outsourcing services to health systems in the European Union, management of joint ventures between Vanderbilt and its strategic partners, establishment of Vanderbilts Center for Integrative Health, and as Vanderbilts representative on several industry boards of directors.
