Greenhouse Effect perform their song "Snake" LIVE 1989 ; Greenhouse Effect Mixtapes; Phil Keegan explodes on the guitar playing "Dorian Riffs" galore in this classic psychedelic underground Song that seems to celebrate SyD Barret Pink Flloyd. This video footage that was miraculously captured by Video Bob in West Los Angeles California at the famed Music Machine Club in August 89' and was offered to Clark Hagins for something like 100 $ "With all the lost footage of G.e. or all the gigs that were never recorded that should have been, I told the guy 'wait here' and like i ran to an atm machine and bought the completed tape,...and today, this whole gig - which at the time I thought was very mediocre to bad for G.e. ,..well , its about the only live footage with Phil Keegan on guitar that exists of the band !,..We had another gig recorded live at Wilson park in torrance from june of 1990 where that band called the Cucumbers all showed up and tried to make me look bad infront of my own crowd,...We were all set up,..and they were goin' 'dude ,..you said we could play at 3;00 pm,..it was like this real weird vibe i'll never forget,..and I was like ,..I never said that,..that fucking creep from the blue vw bus set that up,..man that sucked,..but that was my life back in South Bay,..people were always tryin' to fuck with me,..anyway, we went out and rocked before like this HUGE CROWD,..it was so sick,..it was alot better than the Music Machine Footage from West L.a.,...Some dude videoed the WHOLE GIG,...and for like three years I would see the guy and he was like this stoner dude and i'd be like 'dude,..i NEED THAT FOOTAGE,..." and apparently he either erased it with his wedding or he lost the footage,..thats a fuckin' bummer man !"
GoogleVideoCom Footage of Greenhouse Effect performing "Snake" live with Guitarist Phil Keegan (Dr. Phil). The good Doctor leads the way through this epic little song that seems to merge the Doors with early Pink Floyd, Iron Butterfly, and Early David Bowie and Zeppelin. This song's studio version is ofcourse well known more than this live in 1989 recording. "The Four Song e.p." would also feature classic G.e. tracks 'A Current Affair' and Keegan's awesome "Six Feet Under". 'Snake' would prove to be a pivotal moment in the studio for Greenhouse Effect as Clark Hagins' David Bowie influence really began to shine. The tight psychedelic ambience of this little garage song is held together by the gloomy bass line of Rick Carmody as if in Garage rock heaven !! Influences such as BubblePuppy and the Thirteenth Floor Elevators can also be found here....and as Clark Hagins says; "A little bit of Count Five" When playing live, G.e. were always simply unbelievable. The dynamic lead guitars of Keegan , always mixing in 'Dorian' guitar textures clashed nicely with the tight Keith Moon influenced drumming by Hagins. Rick Carmody's bass is an important factor always in G.e. and in songs like Snake, he holds it together ernestly.
