original description

West Africa is a pilot region for the implementation of new Private Sector initiatives in Oxfam GB’s fight against poverty. The Regional Private Sector Advisor (Suparna Biswas) is based in the Regional Centre in Dakar where the first projects are being implemented. We have the pleasure of sharing with you a short video put together about the latest project; working with local women processing groups in Senegal to improve their business organisation through increased access to information, finance, technology and markets. Incomes will increase through improved management, better quality of production and product, and a permanent sales outlet in the retail chain being set up exclusively for locally value added products. “PANALE” is the name to listen out for, an acronym “Produits Africains Normalisés et Accessibles pour un développement Local et Environnemental” with its origins in a Wolof word for the New Years parade in St Louis led by women in traditional dress. Hope you enjoy the video and hope to see you soon among the customers in the PANALE boutiques! Watch this space…
