As an Indian woman who had lived in India for 7 years and seen the poverty first hand, starving children, AIDS, and people living in filth I know that the temples there sell lies to the people, telling them 'the Gods' will save them, meanwhile the priests profit by lying and literally stealing from the poor. Indian women are oppressed and taught to be submissive and its completely unfair. Something should be done. They are strong but forced to be this way and it must stop. No one should profit from the $1000 on their head but that particular woman. They need to be informed of what is being done. And if the people running these so called temples don't tell them, the people buying the hair should inform them. I'm glad for the fact that at least Chris Rock has shed some light on this situation.
Chris Rock appeared on the Oprah show today to talk about his new documentary film that I posted on two months ago titled Good Hair. He was inspired to make this film after one of his daughters came to him asking why she doesn't have good hair. Solange Knowles also made an appearance on the show to talk why she decided to chop all her hair off and I thought she looked really nice on the show.
