In light of the David Letterman's transgressions and the coverage that it attracted in the local newspapers over the last few days, I thought a Top Ten list why we should not listen to the U.S. media, would be appropriate. I guess we are more secure, the economy is booming, healthcare reform is solved, unemployment problems gone and we are out of Iraq and Afghanistan to mention just a few light news topics.
Top Ten (in no particular order)
1)It is almost comical how little coverage the failure by President Obama's last ditch effort to get the Olympics was discussed and the ramifications of the loss.
2)Could you imagine the coverage both the president and the media would have given it, should Chicago won the bid?
3)When Bush was in the White House do you remember any reports on him doing anything good for the country?
4)Does anyone believe paying more income taxes is bad? I haven't read any coverage on this.
5)Has Wall Street ever done anything right?
6)I know earning a lot of money isn't a crime, but don't let anyone know if you get a raise. You will be vilified by the media (that is if you are not one of their groups in favor).
7)Does anyone know what VP Biden is doing...He must be solving the world problems...He is no Cheney(Booooo!)
8)I know that unions are not the cause of all the problems in U.S. manufacturing, but labor is the biggest cost to manufacturing (dahhhh???).
9)Does anyone still care what happens to Israel? Iran wants to blow Israel off the face of the earth, if the American media let us know the whole story, then we would tell the President to stand alongside Israel as every other President has done since Israels formation.
10)Lastly, I think the media has done the biggest disservice to Obama making him "Too Big To Fail" (a line taken from the banking crisis). He is on TV or the lead story everyday in every paper. What happens if he just isn't that good?????
I am so frustrated with the way things are going in this country. I do not feel we are getting any of the "change" promised in
