Enterprises are already facing pressure to adopt these new technologies from employees using 'open' social media. Knowledge workers use these tools for many reasons including how they fit their lifestyles, are universally accessible, easy to use and most of all are highly empowering.

Enterprises have also realized that the 'google generation' comes with a different mind-set than that pervaded during the time of baby boomers. From closed command and control structures which garnered fear of making mistakes to this new world which is more consensus driven, informal and thus require more mentoring and exploration of options. The new workers are more accustomed to working across divisions than the previous generation which was stuck in its silo leading to massive behavorial shifts.
