I wasn't aware they made 2009 Ballpark Collection, I bought a few boxes of the 08 and I was mildly amused until I found out that the cards didn't have the greatest resale value. It seems as if this set was created purely for UD to get rid of tons of jerseys they had just laying around, and make money off it. The way I rate it is this:
Collectability: D-. With tons of cards just in the base set, it would be impossible to actually sit down and try to collect the base set.
Resale Value: D+. It's better than some, but for what you pay, what you get, and what people will actually pay, the values are not good.
Popularity: C. I have talked to all my card shop owners about how well this set was received and sold compared to other high end products and it seems like they all agree that other sets are way more popular like Co-Signers and Premier.
Design: B-. The 2009 set looks more bland than the 2008 set did with the wood look. I actually like how they re-designed the placement of the jersey pieces on the card though b/c it looks better than having them split up all over the card. I also HATE that stupid sticker on 6 and 8 swatches!
Hits: B. The hits are there but when you open up a Beckett you are quickly saddened by the fact that there are no cards worth more than 150 dollars in the 2008 set. It would have been sweet if they had placed some super rare high end cards in the set but i guess it's ok. In 2009, apparently there are better rarer hits so I say it's a little better than last year. I also like how they include cards that aren't from Ballpark Collection as hits, like in 2008 they put UD Yankee Stadium Legacy Memorabilia cards in the set, and someone on YouTube got the 1/1 Pope duel auto card in 08 BP Collection.
