What's with all the jumping? Is this one of those things where they throw a bunch of jumps and acrobatics in so that non-tap people performing tap can look more impressive to people who don't know anything about the style?

Maybe it just got overhyped. I heard people raving about how great the tapdancing was on SYTYCD, and I'm kind of disappointed. Ooh! Flash steps like wings and flap-heel-heels done really fast! It's good, but at the professed level of dancing professed by this show I was expecting something more, I guess. In any case, it's good that this at least gave tap more exposure for the mainstream, and they might want to watch more tap performances after this.
