Wow, I'm all for "anyone's a fair target" media, but here is TDS once again following the MSM crowd, giving free props to teabaggers while grossly misrepresenting the Whole Foods issue. There are plenty of legitimate silly things to create sketches about without having to dumb down a real human/corporate interest caper...

For anyone who's interested, here's another reason to disapprove of WF's CEO: "For seven years, Whole Foods CEO John Mackey posted on the Yahoo Finance board about his company and its competitors, while pretending to be someone else...trashing rivals like Wild Oats so their stock prices could drop and he could buy them out for less..."

More reasons to disapprove of Whole Foods? Fierce union-busting; aggressive attacks on farmworkers' groups; ruthless monopolization (WF has wiped out most of its competition); dishonesty re: dangerous foods and quality control; low wages and poor working conditions in many stores; deceptive support of 'small farmers' ("Slate also pointed out that Whole Foods has pictures and profiles of small organic farmers in their stores, but doesn't actually carry products from those farmers."); denial of toxic chemicals and GMO's in WF products; burrying CEO compensation; gagging shareholders, and more.

Not allowed to post a link here, but I found a pretty balanced overview, complete with many varied sources, at Michael Blujay's blog---within 30 seconds of looking up "Whole Foods problem". Too bad nobody at TDS knows how to google, or has 20 minutes of reading time available.

Actually PunkyAmerica, you can. Here's the link to Michael Blujay's piece on Whole Foods. Just make sure the http:// is at the front, and it will be clickable.

I find Cenac's segments the least enjoyable on the Daily Show. His brand of snark is never hilarious or thought provoking.

This is very low hanging fruit - the Daily Show satirizes the dude who wants people to boycott Whole Foods.

Cencac and the Daily Show's writers focus only on the irony of a right-wing "buycott," and imply sarcastically that all boycotts are pathetic and useless.

The editorial in the Wall Street Journal by the CEO of Whole Foods is more than one citizen's opinion on health care. A large employer uses extreme rhetoric that betrays a hostility to employees and their arguable right to affordable heath care.
