Rep. Debbie Wasserman Shultz makes it clear that the Stupak Amendment will will not survive. From Greg Sargent: The war within Democratic ranks over the anti-abortion Stupak amendment is rapidly heating up, and Dem Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz threw down the gauntlet on MSNBC moments ago, vowing that she and others are doing all they can to kill the provision. Wasserman-Schultz — whose voice carries a fair amount of weight among liberals in Congress — said that she’s confident the amendment will be gone in the end: Rep. Wasserman Shultz's strong statement comes just as Rachel Maddow was on Meet the Press saying if it isn't removed, woman will punish Democrats at the polls in 2010. From Meet the Press: var addthis_pub="thejoshuablog";As MinistryOfTruth described Maddow's comments: On Meet The Press today, Rachel Maddow made a point that should NOT be overlooked by Democrats in the House and Senate who wish to remian in their elected offices in 2010 and beyond, and that is the fact that if the Stupak-Pitts C Street anti abortion amendment in the House version of Health Care Reform is NOT removed if/when the bill goes to Conference to be merged with the Senate bill, there will be MASSIVE blowback for the Democratic party from it's female base. read more... GottaLaff had this to say: The Stupak amendment was a huge setback for abortion rights, as Rachel says in the video, and if it is not removed in conference, there will be a significant drop-off at the polls by the Democratic base. Moving to the right is not the answer, in case that hasn't already been made obvious. Just ask Creigh Deeds. We didn't elect Barack Obama and our Congress members because we wanted to mimic the Republican party. We didn't celebrate 2006 and 2008 majorities just to maintain the status quo... or become GOP Lite. Our side didn't come out in big numbers in last Tuesday's election. This kind of legislating won't exactly pump us up for 2010 either. Say bye-bye to donations, volunteers, donations, enthusiasm, donations,

Finally the voice of reason. They need to remove that language from the bill. The Church has no say in the structuring of policy. Let's keep it that way. Let the Catholic church go back to monitoring who's raping some one's child and leave the governing of the country to the sane law makers.
