This song never gets old for me. I just wish I could friggin' download it singly from Amazon or iTunes! All the super Brits of the 80s got together to Feed the World when Ethiopia (and now Africa) was in the midst of a crisis. The song was the first to spark a trend of musical super groups to help Africa. Whether it helped or not, it perhaps helped to open the heart a bit.Unfortunately, the song's history is more hilarious than it should be. A random slew of other bands in the original lineup makes for a chuckle (Kool and the Gang? Jody Watley? They British?) and the Band-Aid II was a complete misstep (Technotronic? Really?) not to mention this one as well. But the 20 year anniversary of Band-Aid (with Madonna! Sort of.) called for a new generation and brought some glory back to the heart of the song. more about "Holiday Tunes - super 80s group Band-...", posted with vodpodBy the way, we're closing up shop here for the holidays until Jan 2. Perhaps a post will show up here and there but until then, have a wondrous and glorious holiday season. We thank you so so much for taking a minute to stop by and take a look at our little corner of the Internet.A Minty Thank You,Rich and Cindy
This video will make you feel elderly. The good part is all these people in this video have ALSO aged. 24 years ago??? No. Way.Remember when this thing came out in Christmas of ‘84? How it played CONSTANTLY…but it was cool then and I think it’s cool now. Plus, Bob Geldof started a trend here with groups of music people gathering to raise money for various causes that is STILL going today. Somebody tell me…how…in this mix of British pop/rock stars, did Kool and the Gang get in this mix? It just seems odd. And I STILL think Boy George is a fabulous singer and I wish he would come back around some.
