"The Green Cottage" is presented by Building Sustainable Solutions. We are engaged in providing all professional services for the design, development and construction of buildings and homes; utilizing renewable products, energy efficient systems and sustainable design. Our "Green Cottage" team offers full service in the architectural, interior architectural, landscape design and construction of new residential and commercial buildings. We also have the expertise and capabilities to renovate existing residential and commercial buildings to be energy efficient and sustainable. "The Green Cottage" is an example of the type of sustainable building we design and the quality of construction that is possible in a real building. Built as an exhibit for the GreenHamptons Pavilion at the 2007 Spring Hamptons Home & Garden Show, durability and quality of materials, their sustainability are the essence of the design. * The building shell is constructed of Expanded Polystyrene panels providing super insulated thermal barrier from outside weather conditions. * Roofing is synthetic slate composed of recycled rubber and plastic. * Siding is Certified Atlantic White Cedar perfection shingles. * Decking is Certified IPE wood planking. * Exterior trim is primed finger joint wood moulding. * The interior trim is primed MDF materials. * The pergola is reclaimed timbers * Windows are vinyl high performance glazing units, utilizing recycled vinyl for non-structural components of the window. * A heat-recovery-ventilation system provides low energy fresh air. * The building is electrically powered by net metering photo-voltaic generating system. At the end of the Hampton Home & Garden Show"The Green Cottage"was donated for auction to benefit "The Children's Foundation of Suffolk". The office of Anthony J.
