I am grateful that my son doesn't have much interest in the computer at age 8 beyond interacting with applications involving holidays and animals on Facebook, and I am at the controls. I came close to suicide so many time sin my life--in fact my first poem, I believe written at age 12, was called "I Was Pushed" about a girl who was pushed to the edge by bullying and teasing and chose suicide. It's bad enough when a child does the bullying, but when an adult pitches in like that it's horrible! Teenagers are so vulnerable and should be treated delicately--not like that.
Regarding the "shunning" of the family at the center of the hoax, I hate to say it but I am agreeing with the practice--as long as it doesn't get violent or destructive, for then the people shunning them or harassing them only stoop to the level of the ones they are condemning. Just a thought . . .
